Meet the artist illo

Over the last week or so, I've been working on a meet the artist illustration for the about page on my website. I thought it would be nice to show a little bit about my life other than the usual blurb.

(Also, I came across some really good ones on Instagram and wanted to get in on the action!)

So, I had to include the family (obviously) so they're squeezed into a frame on the table next to the plant. I like to bring a little bit of the outdoors, indoors. Hence, the plants.

In the frame on the wall is a distant shot of Berwick Lighthouse, close to where I live. This lighthouse has made an appearance in several of my illustrations and during the making of this illustration, another idea including the lighthouse emerged, so watch this space...

Our pets made the cut too, with Dexter the frog (named after Dexter, a favourite crime/drama/mystery/horror series) Sassy and Nina, the cats, and Hamlet, the turtle. I'm an animal lover and amphibians and reptiles are my favourite. (I'm also a member of Save the Frogs.)

Being a huge bookworm meant the books took over. I'm currently reading Horns, by Joe Hill, one of my favourite authors along with Stephen King and Lee Child. I also enjoy the classics - who doesn't - and thanks to Project Gutenberg, many of them are free! No excuses people. Get reading.
